Teen Girl Shot in Pilsen

Police are investigating the shooting of a 16-year-old girl in Pilsen Tuesday.

It happened at about 4 p.m. in the 1700 block of West 18th Street, according to police.

The girl was shot in the upper chest. She was transported to a local hospital where she was listed in stable condition.

The shooting happened in front of the MeztiSoy Food Market, where bullet holes could be seen in the front window. The owner told NBC 5 that it was a good thing the juice bar was closed, or there would have been more people in the store.

The shooting also happened across the street from Harrison Park, which was filled with youngsters on a mild day.

Witnesses say two groups of males were arguing and that the victim may have been caught in the crossfire.
