Teen Driver Rescued by Good Samaritans After Lake Shore Drive Crash

One of the people who helped remove the teen from the wreckage was an off-duty police officer

A teenage driver who lost control of his car on Lake Shore Drive and struck a tree was rescued by Good Samaritans who pulled over to help.

The 17-year-old was driving southbound on Lake Shore Drive at about 10:15 a.m. Saturday just south of Soldier Field when he lost control of his car and struck a tree, police said.

Two passersby saw the crash and pulled over to help remove the teen from the wreck. One of the Good Samaritans was an off-duty police officer, according to police.

The teen was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in guarded condition with injuries to his head and his leg.
