Teen Charged With Assaulting Group Home Worker

A teen resident of a Palatine group home for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities was charged this week with allegedly sexually assaulting a staff worker.

Eddie Blue, 16, of the 1600 block of Little City Drive is accused of allegedly forcing a 30-year-old staff worker into a restroom, choking her, tearing off her clothes and sexually assaulting her, Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart said.

Dart said the employee fought back at first but stopped resisting as she feared for her life. She went for help after she said Blue let her go.

Blue suffers from mild mental retardation and other mental health disorders, Dart said. He has no previous history of violence at the home.

Blue and the victim were transported to Northwest Community Hospital where they were treated and released. Blue was questioned and charged late Tuesday. He was ordered held on $100,000 bond.

Blue’s next court date is Oct. 5 in Rolling Meadows.
