Teen Accused of Hiding Camera in Couple's Bedroom

Couple sues neighbors after discovering camera

A North Aurora couple is accusing a former babysitter of hiding a camera in their bedroom.

David and Katerina Speers filed a lawsuit against their neighbors, and issued an order of protection against their 16-year-old son, the Daily Herald reports.

No criminal charges have been filed in the case at this point, but the couple is seeking more than $50,000 in damages for invasion of privacy and negligence in supervising their son, according to the newspaper.

David Speers says he discovered a surveillance camera near the TV in his bedroom in November and tracked it to the teen.

Police issued a search warrant on the teen's home and confiscated various electronic devices.

The teen reportedly admitted to police that he bought the camera and placed it in the bedroom in an effort to record Katerina Speers, but was unsuccessful in getting it to work.
