A "person of interest" in the brutal attack on a former DePaul University student near the university's campus last month has been taken into custody in Texas, authorities said Thursday.
Adam Bramwell was apprehened by the Marshals Service of the US Department of Justice on an arrest warrant in Texas, according to Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. Bramwell was wanted on two felony warrants and is a "person of interest" in an aggravated battery in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, Guglielmi said.
Police said earlier this month that Bramwell was charged with one felony count of aggravated vehicular hijacking in connection with a July 13 incident in the 1800 block of North Fremont Street. He was found guilty of unlawful use of a weapon following an incident in March 2017 and was out on parol after being sentenced to four years in prison, authorities said. He also served time for a 2012 case involving domestic battery, robbery and burglary charges.
Surveillance images also showed similarities between Bramwell and the suspect in the July 18 knife attack on a 22-year-old woman near the DePaul University campus, less than a mile away from the carjacking. Police confirmed Bramwell is a "person of interest" in that case but declined to comment further.
