Surveillance Video Captures Bus Stop Rapist

Police searching for suspect in Ukrainian Village attack

Police have released surveillance video images of a man they believed raped a woman at a Ukrainian Village bus stop this week.

The man was captured buying items at a gas station across the street before the incident occurred.

Police say a woman was waiting at a bus shelter at Augusta Boulevard and Western Avenue early Monday morning when a man approached her.

The woman told police the suspect attacked her inside the shelter then dragged her into an area between two buildings where he beat and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect is described as a black man between 19 and 26 years old, standing about five-foot-10 and weighing between 160 and 180 pounds. He was clean shaven, wore a green T-shirt, green shorts, black shoes, a black doo-rag and diamond stud earrings in both ears.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the Area Central Bureau of Detectives at (312) 747-8380.
