Suburban Chicago Lottery Winner: “It Paid Off to Run Errands for My Fiancee!”

It does pay off to do nice things for your significant other, and one suburban Chicago man has the proof in his bank account.

Chase Knapp of Downers Grove credits being sent out on an errand by his fiancee as the reason why he is now $2 million richer, giving a whole new meaning to the adage “happy wife, happy life.”

“Thanks to running wedding errands for my fiancee, I won a huge lottery prize!” the new millionaire said when he presented his winning ticket in Chicago Thursday.

Knapp, 33, told lottery officials he stopped at three different retailers during his errand run and bought a scratch-off ticket at each one.

After running into a Mobil gas station at 1 East Street Charles Road in Villa Park, he scratched his way to a $2 million prize from a “50X The Cash” instant ticket that he picked up for $10.

“The third stop was the charm with the winning ticket!” he said, adding his only advice for other players is, “Don’t give up!”

When asked about his plans for the money, Knapp said he will likely invest and use a portion for his upcoming fall wedding, according to the Illinois Lottery.
