Some state lawmakers want to put restrictions on how you can buy and sell one of these.

Just days after the 29th Chicago Public School student was murdered this school year, a large group of students and activists headed to Springfield to push for tougher gun laws.

Some of the students come from Simeon High School, where last week's victim went.  They joined a larger group of gun-law advocates led by Father Michael Pfleger.

"To you all, Greg just may be number 29, or 28, but to us, he's Greg, Gregory Paul Robinson III, our classmate, our teammate, and more importantly, our friend," said Simeon High School senior class president Ronnie Mosley.

The group plans to protest on the capitol steps Wednesday, ABC7 reported. They are lobbying for passage of HB 48, which would add new restrictions to gun purchases and transfers, requiring them to go through a licensed firearm dealer.

Opponents of the bill say it is just more red tape and won't do anything to stop urban gun violence.

The bill could come up for a vote this week.
