String of Violent and Armed Robberies Reported in Logan Square, Bucktown

The robberies all occurred in late June, police said

Three violent or armed robberies have been reported in the North Side Logan Square and Bucktown neighborhoods since late June, police said.

The robberies occurred:

— In the 3100 block of West Belden at 1:20 a.m. on Aug. 2
— In the 1600 block of North Wood Street at 2:20 a.m. on July 17
— In the 1600 block of North Mozart at 10:50 p.m. on June 26

In the incidents on Belden and Mozart, someone got out of a red or dark car, showed a handgun and demanded cellphones and passwords for the phones, according to a community alert from Area North detectives issued Sunday morning.

There was no weapon seen in the Wood Street robbery, but the suspect approached the victim from behind and punched them without warning before stealing their belongings, police said.

A red or dark car was seen at each incident and used as a getaway car — possibly a Toyota or Honda, police said.

There are possibly one to four robbers involved in the incidents, police said. They are described as in their 20s, standing between 5-foot-8 to 6-feet and weighing between 150 to 170 pounds, police said.

Any one with information is asked to call detectives at (312) 744 8263.
