Stebic Lawyer Joins Peterson Defense Team

George Lenard to join criminal former police sergeant's defense team

Drew Peterson's legal team just gained some first-hand experience.

Attorney George Lenard, who has already represented Craig Stebic, suspected in the disappearance of his wife Lisa, will be defending Peterson from accusations he killed his third wife, Kathleen Savio, in 2004.

Lenard has been consulting with Peterson’s legal team for months, Peterson’s attorney Joel Brodsky told the Chicago Tribune.

“There is a tremendous amount of work that we have been doing,” Brodsky told the Tribune. “His 21 years of experience in criminal defense will make Drew’s team stronger.”

Earlier this month Lenard saw prosecutors drop a complaint charging his other client, Stebic, of threatening a neighbor over fireworks. Stebic is still a suspect in the disappearance of his wife Lisa, who has been missing since April 30, 2007.

Peterson is suspected of the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, who has been missing since Oct. 2007.

Peterson is being held in custody in Will County on a $20 million bond.
