Stats Guru Nate Silver on Why Chicago Tops NY

Election statistician proclaims his love for the Windy City

Nate Silver correctly predicted the winner for all 50 states in the presidential election, so Chicagoans will argue that his opinion carries a lot of weight when it comes to bragging rights for the top city.

Silver gave Deadspin.com a list of six reasons why Chicago is a much better place to live than New York:

  1. Better tacos
  2. Better architecture
  3. Better burritos
  4. Better baseball stadiums
  5. Better tortas
  6. Better live music venues

Silver obviously has a soft spot for Mexican food, although it should be noted that he gave NYC the nod in the best pizza debate.

Not surprisingly, Silver has spent quite a bit of time in Chicago, receiving a degree in economics from the University of Chicago in 2000 and writing for a number of Chicago publications. He now lives in New York.

Silver first gained prominence during the 2008 election when he correctly predicted 49 of 50 states when Barack Obama took on John McCain and was named one of The World's 100 Most Influential People by Time Magazine in 2009.
