The Tribune printed "hundreds of thousands" of extra copies of Thursday's paper and sold them at Tribune Tower on Michigan Avenue.

Perhaps the cover that feels most special for die-hard fans will come in a glossy version.

Sports Illustrated publishers said they accelerated the magazine's regular production schedule to release its Cubs cover almost a week early.
