Son Repeatedly Stabs Mother: Police

Son used kitchen knife to stab his mom, police say

An argument between a man and his mother in the Southwest Side apartment they share escalated until he stabbed her again and again, according to police.

It happened Thursday in the 3100 block of West 62nd Street.  The man, Lionel Robinson, was charged with aggravated domestic battery, police said. He's due in bond court on Sunday.

Police were called to the apartment around 4:50 p.m. Thursday.  Inside, they found a 49-year-old woman who was bleeding from the face and arm.  She told officers she was stabbed by her son after a verbal altercation, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.

Robinson was arrested on the West Side about five hours later.

Even though Robinson's mother was stabbed in the head, shoulder, hand and neck area, she was hospitalized, in “stable” condition, police said.

He had apparently used “some kind of kitchen knife,” to stab his mother, according to Perez.
