9 a.m.: Chicago's Gracie Gold begins her quest for gold Wednesday in the individual short program. The American women have won only one medal in the past two Olympics, so they have something to prove. U.S. champion Gold and Polina Edmunds headline a strong group, which also includes two-time U.S. champion Ashley Wagner, who could find her way to the podium as well. It won’t come easy, however, as reigning gold medalist Yuna Kim of South Korea will look to defend her gold medal in the event and become the first back-to-back gold medalist since the 1980s. 10:15 a.m.: Chicago's Aja Evans made good in her Olympic bobsled debut Tuesday, finishing third. If she holds up on Wednesday, she'll be a first-time medalist. U.S. bobsledder Lauryn Williams eyes history as she looks to become only the second person to win a gold medal at both the Summer and Winter Olympics.
