Snow Totals Across the Chicago Area Wednesday

A Winter Weather Advisory was issued for several counties across the Chicago area early Wednesday

Measurable snow made its way to the Chicago area Wednesday morning as some areas saw accumulations as high as 3 inches. 

A Winter Weather Advisory was issued for several counties across the Chicago area early Wednesday, as the region woke up to rain, sleet and snow ahead of the morning commute. 

The National Weather Service issued the advisory just after 5 a.m. CST for Cook, DuPage, LaSalle, Kane, Kendall, Grundy and Will counties. It was expected to last through 10 a.m., with the period of highest snowfall happening through 7 a.m., according to the NWS.

Wet snow was expected, occasionally mixing with sleet, the NWS said. 

The accumulations were mostly expected on primarily grassy and elevated surfaces, periods of heavy snow could result in slushy conditions on untreated roadways, with experts warning commuters to use caution when driving.

Lisle: 2.7 inches

Shorewood: 2.7 inches

Aurora: 2.6 inches

Peru: 2.5 inches

Naperville: 2 inches

Plainfield: 1.8 inches

Somonauk: 1.7 inches

Batavia: 1.2 inches

Carol Stream: 1 inch

Crest Hill: 1 inch

Midway: 1 inch

Morris: 0.7 inches
