Six Flags Great America Changes Name of Park to “Six Flags Go Mets”

It might be Fright Fest at Six Flags Great America, but a new sight at the park could be even more frightening than the monsters and zombies roaming the park this month -- at least for Cubs fans.

Six Flags Great America in Gurnee made good on its bet with Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, New Jersey following the Cubs' NLCS loss to the New York Mets.

The park has changed the name of its Goliath roller coaster to "GoMets" and changed the name of the park to "Six Flags Great Mets."

“We were so confident that this was the year for the Chicago Cubs that we amped up our wager with Six Flags Great Adventure,” park president, Hank Salemi, said in a statement. “Unfortunately, we will have to bear these two shameful renames of our park and roller coaster for the remaining weekends of Fright Fest. There’s always 2016.”

If the Cubs had won the NLCS against the New York Mets, the New Jersey park would have had to rename their record-breaking Kingda Ka roller coaster to "Kingda Cubs" change the name of the entire park to "Six Flags Great Cubs."

The name changes will remain in effect until Fright Fest ends.

During the NLDS, Six Flags Great America and Six Flags St. Louis also wagered a bet. When the Cubs won the series, the American Thunder roller coaster in St. Louis became the "Cubs Thunder." Six Flags St. Louis also had to send some Maull's BBQ sauce with pork steaks and some famous St. Louis toasted ravioli to Gurnee.

The Cubs ended their playoff run after losing four straight games to the Mets in the NLCS.
