Illinois Woman Buys Brother Winning Lotto Ticket

Cicero resident calls sister his "good luck charm"

An Illinois lottery winner is calling his sister his "good luck charm."

Adan Aguirre of Cicero won $133,333 in the May 24 Lucky Day Lotto drawing after his sister, Diana, bought the winning lottery ticket for him.

Aguirre, a 38-year-old single father of two who claimed his prize Monday in Chicago, said he plans to share the winnings with his sister. They plan to take their families on a Caribbean vacation, he said.

“My sister and I had an agreement that if I ever won the lottery, I would share the prize with her,” Aguirre said.

Aguirre asked Diana to purchase the Quick Pick ticket while she bought snacks at Berwyn Amoco over Memorial Day weekend.

The following morning, he checked his ticket numbers on illinoislottery.com and rushed to his sister’s home to share the good news, Aguirre said.

“She didn’t believe me, especially because it was her first time buying a lottery ticket,” Aguirre said.

Aguirre and two other winners split the $400,000 jackpot. More than 250,000 participants win every week.
