Two Men Shot in Drive-By Outside Preckwinkle's Office

Shattered glass from a CTA bus shelter covered the ground

Gunfire from a drive-by hit two men outside the 4th Ward office of Ald. Toni Preckwinkle.

A gunman shot a 19-year-old man and 26-year-old man in the 4600 block of South Cottage Grove at about 8:30 p.m. Monday, police said.

It happened outside the building that houses Preckwinkle's office and a Shorebank branch. Shattered glass from a CTA bus shelter littered the ground.

Preckwinkle, the Democratic nominee for Cook County Board President, told the Sun-Times her office wasn't targeted.

The 19-year-old victim was shot in the foot and the 26-year-old victim in the calf. Both were transported to Provident Hospital of Cook County, said police.

Detectives are investigating. No one is in custody at this time.
