No Significant Flooding, Damage in Sunday Night Storms

A line of storms with heavy rain, high winds and some hail passed over Chicago late Sunday.

There was no significant damage or flooding, but Mother Nature did provide those who were awake with an incredible display of lightning.

A pair of Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were briefly posted by National Weather Service forecasters before the system quickly moved to the east. The storm dropped 1.5 inches of rain in Woodstock, 1.33 inches in Evanston, and 0.63 inches of rain at O'Hare International Airport, the NWS reported. A 47 mph wind gust was recorded in Beverly Shores, Indiana.

Much of the area was hit by severe weather last week, with at least eight tornadoes reported and thousands of residents left without power for several days heading into the Fourth of July weekend.
