Several cases of pertussis, known as the whooping cough, have been confirmed at two schools in Chicago's northern suburbs.
Multiple students at School of Saints Faith Hope and Charity in Winnetka contracted the highly-contagious disease, according to the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Parents have been informed, and the school has been working with the Illinois Department of Health, Archdiocese officials said. Three cases were previously confirmed at Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire.
Whooping cough is a respiratory infection that is often treated by a vaccine.
