Several Cars Burned in Two Lots on South Side

Investigators have not connected the scrap yard and junkyard fires

Multiple cars burned side-by-side in two separate fires on the city’s South Side early Tuesday.

Firefighters found the cars engulfed in flames in a lot near 115th and Calumet Avenue in the Roseland neighborhood about 3 a.m., said the Chicago Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to another overnight fire at a junkyard near 88th and Genoa Avenue in the city’s Gresham neighborhood, said authorities.

Multiple cars were on fire.

The lots are located about five miles away from each other.

Investigators have not connected the lot fires.

It remains unclear what caused the fires.
