Edens Expressway Reopens After Potato Truck Crash

A semi-truck rolled over after crashing into the median on the Edens Expressway Friday night, closing all lanes on the road.

The truck, which was hauling potatoes, was travelling in the northbound lanes of Interstate 94 at Dempster around 9:15 p.m. Friday night in Skokie when he hit a median and flipped into incoming traffic.

The wreckage spanned across north and southbound lanes, according to the Illlinois Department of Transportation.

Two ambulances and a HAZMAT crew were called to the scene. The Skokie Fire Department was also assisting with the crash.

Officials said the driver of the semi suffered minor injuries in the accident.

The lanes were closed for more than three hours Friday night, but were reopened by early Saturday morning, officials said.
