Second Man Charged in Lincoln Park Rape

Police have charged a second man in connection with with a Lincoln Park sexual assault that was stopped in progress by suspicious police.

David McAffe, of the 8500 block of South Givens Avenue, was arrested Saturday and charged with home invasion and criminal sexual for allegedly entering the Lincoln Park home of a woman with an accomplice and allegedly trying to rape her in her apartment.

Quick thinking neighbor, 28-year-old Casey Meehan, spotted the woman's purse on a set of back stairs and called police who arrived in time to stop the assault.

Another man, Darrell Moore, 19, was arrested for the attack. Moore was taken into custody. The woman was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she was listed in good condition.

"I'm devastated for her," said a tearful Megan Kirkpatrick, a friend of the victim.  "It's really scary."

Moore and McAffe, face up to 30 years in prison after being charged Friday with home invasion and aggravated criminal sexual assault. McAffe is due in court Monday.
