Police Shoot Schaumburg Woman After She Allegedly Fired Shots at Cops

Police were called to the scene after the woman's roommate reported she was holding a pistol and making suicidal statements

A Schaumburg woman was shot twice by police officers after she allegedly pointed a gun at them and fired shots at the officers Saturday evening.

Police were called to a home in the 1700 block of Maple Place in Schaumburg at about 7:25 p.m. after the woman's roommate reported she was holding a pistol and making suicidal statements. When officers arrived, the roommate left the home and police found the woman sitting down and holding a pistol to her head.

Officers asked the woman to put the pistol down, but she refused, Schaumburg police said. She later pointed the gun at the officers, who then left the home and called for back-up from the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS) Emergency Services Team.

Shortly before midnight, the woman fired at least one round out of the window toward a NIPAS vehicle, police said. She then exited her unit in the building and shot at NIPAS officers who were standing in the hallway.

A NIPAS officer returned fire, striking the woman twice. She was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

No officers were injured in the incident.
