Scattered Rain, Storms Usher In Cooler Temps

Predicted high pressure to clear skies, bring dry conditions

There were periods of rain and scattered showers Thursday as seasonably warm end-of-summer conditions continued.

But high pressure predicted to build later in the day setup the area for a dry, comfortable Friday with a high temperature near 80 degrees.

Still, officials said isolated showers were possible throughout the area late Thursday. Earlier in the day, the National Weather Service issued a small stream flood advisory for areas far west and south of Chicago, which saw thunderstorms and heavy rain around 6 a.m.

As much as two-and-a-half inches of rain fell in eastern Ogle and northeast Lee counties, according to the NWS.
