A large sinkhole that opened up opened up on Chicago’s North Side was caused by stormy weather in the city, officials said Thursday.
According to the city’s Department of Water Management, the crater on Paulina Street near Cullom Avenue in the city's Ravenswood neighborhood happened after a sewer main was damaged in a storm earlier this week.
Crews closed Paulina from Cullom to Berteau as they worked to remove damage.
It remained unclear how long the closures would last.
