Rocks, Bricks Thrown From South Side Overpass, Several Cars Damaged

The incident comes just hours after three juveniles were taken into custody for throwing rocks from an overpass, striking a Chicago police squad car

Rocks and bricks are being thrown from an overpass on Chicago’s South Side, police warned early Wednesday morning.

Authorities said vehicles traveling southbound just after 1 a.m. in the 11700 block of South Michigan Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood reported someone dropped bricks and rocks from an overpass, causing damage to the windshields of at least five vehicles.

No injuries had been reported and no one was in custody as of Wednesday morning.

The incident comes just hours after three juveniles were taken into custody for throwing rocks from an overpass, striking a Chicago police squad car in the 2500 block of West Cermak, authorities said. A CPD segeant suffered a laceration to her arm when the windshield shattered. She was taken to an area hospital, where she was treated and released, according to police. 

The three boys, who were between the ages of 10 and 11, were charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass to property and were released to famiy members, police said.
