Mayor spends day in D.C. meeting with administration officials

Mayor Rahm Emanuel met with President Barack Obama and several other administration officials in Washington Monday.

According to the Mayor's Office, Emanuel met with several cabinet secretaries and administration officials, and paid a visit to the White House to spend some time with Obama.

Emanuel visits included meetings with Interior Secretary Sally Jewell, Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald and Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Matthews Burrell.

Among the topics discussed with Jewell was the possibility of getting a national historic designation for Chicago's Pullman Park.

Emanuel, the former White House Chief of Staff, also spent time with Obama when he was in Chicago last week to stump for Gov. Quinn.
