R. Kelly Is Writing a Book

R. Kelly, the prolific R&B singer who recently admitted “I don’t read really,” is writing a book.

The autobiography, which he’s working on with author David Ritz, will “tell it like it is.”
The book is due out in 2011 and will include entries on the child pornography charges that haunted him as well as his rags to riches story.

Kelly, a native of Chicago South Side who’s real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, wants to play the book straight.

"I'm writing this book as Robert, not R. Kelly," he said in a prepared statement. "I'm tired of being misunderstood. I will show you the tears, fears, and sweat. I will open my heart and reveal the good in my life as well as all the drama. I want to tell it like it is."

The autobiography is untitled right now, just like his new CD. It's scheduled for release by Tavis Smiley's SmileyBooks in 2011.
