A 38-year-old man was charged Friday in connection with the hit-and-run death of a popular softball coach in Oswego.
Nehemia Williams, 38, of the 100 block of Gregory Street in Aurora, was charged with wrecless homicide, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accidenting involving death and operation a motor vehicle with a revoked drivers license.
The body of Amanda Stanton was found on Sunday afternoon near Plainfield Road and Plainsman. The Kendall County Sheriff's office believes she was hit by a vehicle and the driver took off. Officials wouldn't say exactly when she was hit.
Stanton's brother shared on social media that she was an incredible teacher and coach who made the lives of so many better. She was the girls softball coach at Oswego High School and a math interventionist at Jefferson Junior High in Naperville.
"Amanda was one of the best and brightest young women I have had the honor to work with and mentor: she had so much to offer and will be missed by all," Oswego District Athletic Director Darren Howard said.
Authorities said a tip from the public helped them track down Williams car and determine he was involved in the fatal crash.
He is due in bond court Saturday.
