Rash of Burglaries Reported in Mt. Prospect

Homes targeted in late afternoon, evening

Police in Mount Prospect warned residents Tuesday about a recent rash of burglaries in the northwest suburb.

Police said burglars have struck five times since the beginning of March in an area bordered by Seminole Lane on the north, Kensington Road on the south, River Road on the east and Wolf Road on the west.

The burglars use force to pry open windows or doors mostly at the rear of the home, and they have stolen jewelry, cash and other items that are easy to transport, police said.

Police said they have stepped up patrols in the area.

Residents are asked to be extra vigilant and to report any suspicious persons, cars or activity in their neighborhood by calling 911 or the Mount Prospect Police Department at 847-870-5654.
