A woman who was the victim of a carjacking over the weekend on the city's South Side says she wants her terrifying experience to serve as a warning to others--a warning Chicago police are backing up.
About 7 p.m. Saturday, Teena Christmas had just parked her 2015 Ford Explorer in the 8800 block of South Eggleston when she noticed a suspicious car at the end of the street.
Minutes later that car started to drive toward her, she said, and that’s when one of the young men stepped out of it.
“He said 'give me your money,' I said 'I don’t have any money' and he said 'well give me your car keys' and I just gave him the car keys,” she recalled.
Christmas says the young man pointed a gun at her head and then seconds later she turned and saw the other young man.
“He stood there with a gun pointed at me and said 'give it up,'" she recalled. “I just dropped to my knees [and said] 'Don’t kill me, don’t kill me, don’t kill me,"
Before her carjacking, Chicago police say at least three others happened on the South Side in the Gresham and Brainerd neighborhoods.

Police say people need to be on alert.
Christmas says she had no idea about the other carjackings and she just wants to make sure that everyone is aware that this is happening.
“It might happen again but we must move on and I am just so thankful that I came out okay,” she said.
