Police Warn Northbrook Residents About ATM Robberies

Police in Northbrook have advised residents not to perform drive-through banking in the dark after two recent robberies at ATMs.

The most recent attempted robbery occurred Oct. 8, when two men with masks and gloves approached a car that pulled up 11:45 p.m.

A similar attempted robbery took place on Sept. 23 just 14 blocks east at Dundee and Pfingsten roads.

Neighboring towns like Elgin have reportedly seen similar crimes. Police in Northbrook are working with those agencies as well.

Police suggest not coming to ATMs at a late hour, especially those not well lit. If you must, be sure to bring a friend, lock your doors with the engine running, and having your card ready in advance.
