Police Shoot Teen Robbery Suspect

A suspected teen robber was shot and killed in the city's South Shore neighborhood

Chicago police shot and killed a suspected robber in the city's South Shore neighborhood on Wednesday night.

The shooting happened near 70th street and Cregier Avenue around 8 p.m., according to police.

Reports indicate a witness told officers two teens had just robbed someone in the area.

The officers then confronted two suspects that matched the description, and ordered them to stop, police said.

Reports indicate one of the teens pointed a gun at the officers. That's when one of the officers opened fire, and shot him in the upper back.

The boy, who was 15-years-old, was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he died, according to authorities.

Officers arrested a 16-year-old boy who may soon face charges, police said.

A weapon and proceeds from the robbery were recovered at the scene.

The Independent Police Review Authority is now investigating.
