Police are warning residents in a western suburb after a resident was attacked on a popular trail.
Villa Park Police said the attack happened around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday on the Great West Trail between Harvard and Westmore.
A man approached the 46-year-old woman from behind and struck her. She suffered minor injuries but said nothing was taken during the attack.
The attacker was described as being between 21 and 25 years old, with thin build, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, blonde hair and wearing a black hoodie.
Although there are homes and businesses on either side of the wide, ill-lighted trail, there aren't cameras near enough for police to see exactly what happened during the attack.
The incident remains under investigation but police have asked anyone with information on the attack to call (630) 592-6112.
