Police Search for 4 Men in Strong-Arm Robbery on CTA Red Line

Chicago police detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying four men involved in strong-arm robbery on Dec. 7 aboard a CTA Red Line train.

The offenders allegedly approached a 21-year-old rider at about 3:00 p.m. on a southbound Red Line train asking for a donation to their basketball team, police said.

After receiving a $5 donation, the four men began harassing the victim for more money. When the victim refused, the offenders began to beat the rider before stealing his iPod and fleeing off the train at the 55th Street station, according to an alert issued by Central Area detectives.

The attack began between the 47th Street and Garfield Boulevard stops while the train was in motion, police said.
