Person of Interest in Custody After ‘Barricade Incident' in Portage Park: Police

Police and SWAT descended on Chicago's Northwest Side for a "barricade incident" Tuesday in the city's Portage Park neighborhood following reports of an attempted bank robbery in the area.

Chicago police said they received reports that a person who may have tried to rob a bank just before 11 a.m. in the 4600 block of West Irving Park Road may have also run into a home or building in the 4900 block of West Addison.

A large police presence was seen in the area.

The Chicago Transit Authority said no. 152 Addison buses were being temporarily rerouted via Addison, Laramie, Irving Park, Cicero and Addison.

Just before 2:30 p.m., police said a person of interest had been taken into custody and no injuries were reported.

The investigation was being handed over to the FBI, according to police.
