A neighbor confronted the man, giving the girl an opportunity to run home, police said

Police are searching for a man who attempted to lure a girl down an alley Saturday in the West Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Between 6 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., the man grabbed the girl by the arm and started pulling her down an alley in the 6200 block of South Lawndale Avenue, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

A neighbor confronted the man, giving the girl an opportunity to run home, police said.

The suspect is described as a white Hispanic man, between 20 and 25 years old, standing about 5-foot, with a slender build, a thin face and a light complexion, police said. The man had long, black hair worn in a ponytail bun and beard stubble.

The man was wearing a white over-sized t-shirt, over-sized blue jean shorts, grey boxer shorts, white Nike Air Force gym shoes and a baseball hat with a royal blue bill over a white do-rag with one knot tied in the rear, police said. He has a two-inch tattoo of a solid-filled, five pointed star on the inside of his right wrist.

Anyone with information on the attempted luring should contact Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
