Police: Man Killed, Teen Injured in Northwest Side Hit-and-Run

A man was killed and a teen was injured in an early-morning hit-and-run Sunday, police said.

The three-car crash took place around 5:20 a.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of North Kostner Avenue, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.

A preliminary investigation indicates a four-door silver pickup truck struck a 2005 Hyundai Elantra traveling westbound on Kostner Avenue, Mirabelli said.

The same vehicle also rear-ended a Toyota Camry, killing the 25-year-old driver and injuring a 17-year-old passenger.

The 25-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released.

The 17-year-old man riding in the Camry was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Mirabelli said.

Two females in the Elantra refused medical treatment.

Police are searching for the driver of the pickup, which may be a Toyota Tacoma, and the police department’s Major Accidents Unit is investigating, Mirabelli said.
