Autopsy: Man Who Fell From Streeterville Hotel Committed Suicide

The 21-year-old man fell from the 18th floor of the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Chicago early Sunday

A west suburban man’s death was ruled a suicide after he fell out of a hotel window early Sunday in the Streeterville neighborhood on the North Side.

The 21-year-old man fell from the 18th floor of the DoubleTree Hotel, 300 E. Ohio, police said.

The man, of the 4000 block of Central Avenue in Western Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:43 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. He died of multiple blunt force injuries from the fall, according to the autopsy that ruled his death a suicide.

The man had attended a function at the hotel and later got into an argument with a female in his room, according to a police source.

She went to the bathroom, and when she came out the room’s window was broken and the man was lying in the street, a police source said. A suicide note was found at the scene.

Three months ago, a Willowbrook man died after he fell from a window at the same hotel.

The 38-year-old man fell from an 18th floor window about 3 a.m. on Aug. 10, authorities said at the time.

An autopsy performed later that day showed the man died of multiple injuries from a fall, with alcohol intoxication listed as a secondary cause, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled an accident.
