Police Investigate Separate South Shore Shootings

Two shootings happened around the same time in the same area early Thursday morning

Two separate shootings in the South Shore neighborhood left one man dead and another in critical condition.

Chicago Police say the first shooting happened around 11 p.m. in the 7200 block of South Cornell Avenue, where Myron Smith was shot in the abdomen and died at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to the Chicago Tribune.

A second man was shot several blocks away in the 1400 block of East 69th Street around the same time. He was also taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Police are investigating to find out if the shootings are related. They have no one in custody for either shooting.
