Police Find Guns, Drugs at Home with Daycare Center

Police recovered two guns and approximately 1,360 grams of cannabis

A Chicago man was arrested and charged after police discovered guns, narcotics and cash in a building with a daycare center inside.

Keith Lee, 52, of the 1600 block of North Monitor Avenue, was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and felony possession of a firearm while on parole. He was also charged with several counts of possessing, manufacturing and delivering cannabis.

The Chicago Police Narcotics Division arrested Lee Friday after they say they witnessed a narcotics transaction between him and another man in a two-flat building in the 1600 block of North Monitor Avenue, which houses a state licensed daycare center in the basement.

Lee left the building after the transaction and just before 3 p.m. he was pulled over and taken into custody, according to authorities, who then executed search warrants for the building.

Police recovered two guns, and approximately 1,360 grams of cannabis, which has an estimated street value of more than $20,000. Police also recovered a scale, narcotics packaging, and approximately $2,700.

Police allege Lee is a self-admitted gang member and convicted felon.
