Bolingbrook Workplace Shooting Was a Murder-Suicide: Police

The shooting in southwest suburban Bolingbrook on Monday that left two men dead was a murder-suicide, according to police.

Xinling Zhang, 39, of Naperville died of multiple gunshot wounds, the Will County Coroner said. Degang Zhang, 48, of Aurora, also died and suffered a single gunshot wound.

Police said Monday evening that Xinling Zhang was the victim and that Degang Zhang was the offender. The two men weren't related, they added.

Police responded to an active shooter situation around 9:30 a.m. at YcB International Inc., an automotive supply importer located on Veterans Parkway near Remington Boulevard, according to Lt. Carter Larry with the Bolingbrook Police Department.

Three employees were at the scene at the time of the shooting and one of them was killed, Larry said. It was not immediately clear which of the men was an employee.

"We don’t believe that there is a shooter on the loose at this time and there is no concern for the public moving forward," Larry said.

Bolingbrook High School was placed on lockdown shortly after 10 a.m. as police responded to the scene. Jane Addams Middle School and two area elementary schools were also placed on lockdown. Those lockdowns were lifted around 10:50 a.m., according to the Director of Community Relations at Valley View School District Larry Randa.

"Upon advisement from law enforcement authorities, the lockdowns ended without incident at approximately 10:50 a.m.," Randa said in a statement.

Just after 11 a.m., people were seen exiting the complex where YcB International is located.
