Police Charge Man Arrested After Hostage Situation

He allegedly walked into the spa and tried robbing three women at the spa

Police charged a 49-year-old man they arrested after a hostage situation at a South Side salon.

Byron K. Moore, of Markham, Ill., faces three counts of attempted robbery, three felony counts of unlawful restraint, a felony count of sexual abuse, a count of attempted criminal sexual assault and a felony count of aggravated kidnapping, according to a statement issued Saturday night from police News Affairs.

Moore allegedly walked into a spa in the 3100 block of South Archer Avenue about 6:45 p.m. and tried robbing three women, police said. He then allegedly took a 40-year-old woman into a back room and sexually assaulted her, the police statement said.

The situation ended with the man in custody and the woman being taken to an area hospital with minor injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

Moore is scheduled to appear in bond court on Monday.
