Police arrested a man accused of hitting and killing a woman Saturday night in the Brighton Park Neighborhood.
49-year-old Cynthia Hoff was hit when she was crossing the street at 42nd and South Western Avenue at 11:45 p.m. Police say the driver who was going North on Western Avenue and did not stop after hitting Hoff. The grandmother of one died shortly after at Holy Cross Hospital.
“She was a loving woman and I miss her so much,” said her grief stricken brother, William Oliver. “For this to happen to her, I can’t understand it.”
Police say they found the hit and run driver near the scene of the accident and arrested him. So far the driver has not been charged.
