Pilsen Restaurant Owner Arrested For Battery of Employee

Daniel Gutierrez, the owner of Canton Regio, was arrested on Sept. 24

The owner of a restaurant in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood has been arrested on a battery charge for allegedly beating an employee, police confirmed.

Daniel Gutierrez, the owner of Canton Regio, was arrested on Sept. 24 for assaulting a 52-year-old man who had to be taken to the hospital.

The restaurant owner admitted to hitting the victim, but claimed he was provoked.

Gutierrez was accused of beating another employee at Canton Regio in Aug. 2018. Lupe Martinez Vega said Gutierrez beat him, but Gutierrez was never charged with a crime.

Alderman Byron Sigcho-Lopez of the city’s 25th Ward told NBC 5 and Telemundo Chicago that he was investigating claims of abuse from other employees.
