Patrick Kane's Message to US Women's Hockey After Historic Victory Perfectly Sums Up How We All Felt

Team USA's historic women's hockey team has a big-time Chicago fan -- star Blackhawks player Patrick Kane.

Following the team's gold medal victory against Canada in Pyeongchang, Kane had a message for the stellar women and some of its star players.

"How can you not be ecstatic for @HilaryKnight @AmandaKessel8 @EmilyPfalzer and the rest of the USA women's hockey team," Kane wrote. "Congrats on the gold medal."

But it was the end of his message that sums up how every fan felt early Thursday morning in Chicago as they watched the puck hit the net during an intense and nail-biting shootout.

"You make us all proud to be an American," Kane wrote.

And he wasn't the only hockey icon to share his Twitter excitement.

Pittsburgh Penguin star Phil Kessel gave the U.S. women a shoutout as well. His sister Amanda scored the second goal in the shootout.

And some American NHL players โ€” who would have been at the Olympics if the league had allowed them to go โ€” paid their respects, including 2014 shootout hero T.J. Oshie.
