Palin Party Hits Chicago

GOP not planning to attend Sarah Palin fundraiser

GOP superstar Sarah Palin was in town Wednesday to help raise money for the state party, even though most of the state party didn't plan to attend.

Of the top Republican candidates running on Illinois tickets, just one, Bill Brady, agreed to attend her fundraiser.

Will they take the money she’s helping raise? You betcha.

"We're glad to have her," said Illinois GOP chairman Pat Brady, adding that "every nickle  we raise will go to GOP candidates from the top to the bottom of the ticket."

Tickets for the fundraiser ranged from $25,000 for a place at a private round table at the Westin O'Hare. $10,000 for a photo and a seat at a VIP reception and $500 per person or $750 per couple for a spot in the general reception.

Afterward, Palin headed to the Rosemont Theater to headline a conservative radio talk show event, hosted by 560 WIND.

Organizers said the event was nearly sold out, according to the Daily Herald.

"We expect to be full," station spokesman Dan Nelson said of the 4,400 seat theater. "It seems like a good fit."

Brady said Palin's fundraiser is her first for any state party in the country.
