Oprah Hasn't Gotten Her “Way” in Chicago Yet

Committee will take up issue during a meeting next Monday

Oprah has everything she could want, except her "Way" here in Chicago.

Just before leaving office, former Mayor Daley named the 100 block of of North Carpenter Street outside of Harpo Studios "Oprah Winfrey Way."

But it turns out Daley never received approval from City Council Travel Committee on the honorary street designation, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

During the street naming ceremony with Daley, Oprah said the street name was better than getting an Oscar or an Emmy.

"I'd like to say thank you to the mayor and city of Chicago," Winfrey said. "This place is my terra. Scarlett O'Hara should have known Chicago."

Chicago's Travel Committee will meet Monday to approve a dozen more honorary street designations, including Oprah Winfrey Way.
