1 Killed, 2 Injured in High-Speed Chase

Police chase reached 100 miles per hour in Antioch

One person was killed and two others seriously hurt after their car flipped into a ditch during a high-speed chase through north suburban Antioch.

Police said it all started with an armed robbery at Bernie's Marathon on Main Street late Sunday night. They said three suspects pepper-sprayed the female clerk and held her at gunpoint. They got away with some cash, police said, and sped away on Route 83.

Officers chased them south at speeds of 100 miles per hour. The driver at some point lost control, crossed Route 83, flipped over and landed in a ditch.

Crews spent time overnight cleaning up the crash scene, flipping the car back over so they could tow it away.

Police believe the suspects also are responsible for another robbery at a BP Amoco gas station on Route 173 in Antioch, and possibly others in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
